For the remainder of 2020, all written examinations will take place online and not as a paper based examination. 

Apply for Examinations

Online applications for all examinations will open at approximately 10am (GMT time) on the application opening date listed on our Examinations Calendar and Fees page and close automatically at 5.00pm (GMT time) on the listed closing date.  Applications must be completed before 5.00pm on the closing date, late applications will not be accepted.  

All applications must be submitted online. The College does not accept paper applications, payment by cheque or card payments by telephone. 

The application process takes some time to complete, so please apply well in advance of the given deadlines. 

Please ensure that you fully complete all parts of the application, otherwise this will delay the processing of your application and late applications will not be accepted.

MRCEM SBA and FRCEM SBA Pilot Examinations 

MRCEM

Candidates needed for pilot exams - Closing date 25th November 2020

The College is organising a pilot to test questions from the new MRCEM SBA examination on 10th December 2020 and we need candidates to sit it!  We are looking for a range of candidates at ST3-4 level to sit this short exam to ensure final GMC approval before the introduction of the new 2021 curriculum and assessment system.

If you have passed the FRCEM Primary examination and are any of the following – we need you!

  1. ST3 trainee OR
  2. ST4 trainee OR
  3. UK doctor not in training at ST3 or ST4 level OR
  4. International candidates

You might have….

  • Passed the Intermediate SAQ
  • Failed the Intermediate SAQ
  • Never attempted the Intermediate SAQ

The pilot exam will be sat online via remote proctoring with OnVUE on 10th December and there is some flexibility as to the timing for this.  There is no cost for candidates sitting the pilot exam

This is a great opportunity to help the College ensure the MRCEM SBA is robust and fit for purpose, and a great opportunity to get an early look at some questions!

FRCEM

The College is organising a pilot to test questions from the new FRCEM SBA examination on 14th January 2021 and we need candidates to sit it!  We are looking for a range of candidates at ST5 – ST6 level to sit this short exam to ensure final GMC approval before the introduction of the new 2021 curriculum and assessment system.

If you have either MRCEM (any date) or FRCEM Primary and FRCEM Intermediate SAQ and FRCEM  SJP, and are

  1. ST5 trainee OR
  2. ST6 trainee OR
  3. UK doctor not in training at ST5 – ST6 level OR
  4. International candidates in their final years of training
  5. Newly qualified consultant/new Fellow

You might have….

  • Passed the Final SAQ
  • Failed the Final SAQ
  • Never attempted the Final SAQ

Update to applications Spring 2019

Following Council approval, Head of School and Supervisor approval is no longer part of the examination application form.  Candidates are still required to discuss and agree their examination plans with their Supervisors in advance of applying.  Heads of School will be sent a list of trainees in their region who have registered for an examination.
